Bachelor of Business Studies (Honours) Level 8 (ADD-ON)

Course Description

The broad aim of the course is to provide students with an academically sound and vocationally orientated education which will adequately prepare them for careers in business, management, teaching, public sector to name but a few. This Degree is a specialised course with a heavy emphasis on the academic aspects of business subjects.  The programme is divided into seven streams – General, Marketing, HRM, Tourism, Finance, Financial Services, Recreation and Leisure.

All students must take core subjects of Macroeconomic Studies and Strategic Management .  Students will then elect to major in one of the seven streams offered and finally chose one additional elective subject.  (see schedule below)

Minimum Entry Requirements

The minimum progression requirement from ordinary degree (L7)  is a pass award, but this does not guarantee entry. Given the limitation of number of places, the actual entry mark may be significantly higher than a pass mark.  Special consideration may be given to mature subjects and to students with post ordinary degree work experience.

Further Study

Holders of an honours degree (2.2 or higher) are eligible to undertake studies at Masters level in the Institute, including the one year taught M.Sc. in Marketing.

The financial stream of this course gives exemptions over and above those obtained from an Ordinary Degree in Business Course, to students from three of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants Examinations and some examinations set by The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
